Turf Installation & Erosion Control

Hydro-Seeding, Straw Mulching

HYDROSEEDING is the process of combining seed, mulch, fertilizer, and healthy soil amendments with water to mix in a Hydroseeder® tank to form a thick slurry. This slurry is applied with pressure to the soil surface for seed germination and turf development.

Hydroseeding is the fastest, cleanest and most cost effective and highest quality method of seeding lawn, landscape and erosion control practices. The hydroseeding slurry is applied with pressure via hose or tower onto the soil to create the ideal environment for seed germination and turf development. Grass should start to grow within 7 days, and the new lawn will be well established within 3-4 weeks.

HydroSeeding allows for site specific rates of mulch to be applied depending upon the time of year that planting occurs.

Benefits of HydroSeeding:
When applied correctly, mulch has the following beneficial effects on plants and soil:

Straw Mulching

After drill seeding or broadcast seeding straw can be applied to the soil to protect the soil from erosion. Straw mulching is excellent for moisture retention and longer germinating seeds.

If planting a relatively large area, hydroseeding can be completed in a very short period of time. It can be very effective for hillsides and sloping lawns to help with erosion control and quick planting. Hydroseeding will typically cost less than planting with sod, but more than broadcast seeding. Results are often quick with high germination rates producing grass growth in about a week and mowing maintenance beginning around 3–4 weeks from the date of application. Fiber mulch accelerates the growing process by maintaining moisture around the seeds thereby increasing the rate of germination.

Filter Sock

Filter sock uses a seamless containment sock which contains organic material. The organic material allows water to pass while retaining sediment as it passes thru the sock. Socks are installed with our blower trucks and are available in 9, 12 and 18 inch sizes. They can be stacked to meet the demands of your project based upon sheer flow rates. The filter sock is then staked and back filled on the up slope side of the sock. The sock can also be injected with seed to create a “living filter” and can be left in place to become part of the landscape.

Applications include:

This tested and proven product has revolutionized sediment control by providing an option that is not only earth friendly but proven effectiveness. Installed with our blower trucks the Eco-Berm is created to hold slopes from eroding. Eco-Berm is used in place of silt-fence which is frequently improperly installed and fails.

Eco-Blanket is applied with our blower trucks. Eco-Blanket is the application of organic compost and soil combined with Micro-Blend™ which aides in the degredation of hydrocarbons that are found on many construction sites. Eco-Blanket is easily applied in a one step, low impact pneumatic process that conforms to about any terrain.
